Imaan supports LGBTQ+ Muslims through faith, community, and each other. Here’s what that looks like in practice:
Peer support. At the heart of everything we do is people supporting people, others who understand what it’s like to sit at the intersection of faith, sexuality and gender identity, without judgement.
Regular events. We run monthly social events in London (hosted at Positive East in Mile End), alongside online socials so you can connect wherever you are. Every Ramadan, we hold weekly Iftars to break fast together as a community, and we mark Eid and other festivals throughout the year.
Events across the UK. Community doesn’t stop at London, we run regular events in Manchester in partnership with LGBT Foundation, and we’ve held gatherings in Birmingham, Cardiff, Sheffield and beyond.
Therapy and support groups. We provide access to low-cost and free therapy, and host dedicated support groups for specific parts of our community, including LGBTQ+ Muslim women and people living with HIV.
Muslim Pride. In 2024, we organised the UK’s first-ever Muslim Pride festival, a full day of panels, workshops and celebration exploring queer Muslim culture, activism and history. We’re building on that going forward.
Everything we do is shared first on our Instagram and through our members’ community channels, follow along to see what’s coming up next.
